Colonial Home Warranty Complaint

Home Warranty - home warranty

I bought home warranty from Colonial Home Warranty about 2 months ago and now my AC unit broke down. I called into claim dept and was told to wait for a review. After 3 days, i haven't heard from them so i called into the claim dept again and was told they denied my claim due to not having prior maintenance record and would not allow me to speak to authorization department or personnel. When i first discussing a quote with a sales agent, he said i won't need any prior maintenance record since i just bought this house and now they denied me for this reason.
Since i'm only been to this new house for two months, the only record i have is the appraisal and walkthrough inspection signed off document.
I felt Colonial Home Warranty is tricking me to buy a policy and not honoring their promise. What's the purpose of buy a home warranty and getting denied after you paid for it and now they're not fullfiling their obligation on their end.
I'm sure there are more people like me facing this same situation and i hope they read all reviews related to Colonial Home Warranty prior to sign a contract with them. The company is trying to take money from homeowners and all they care is getting more contracts signed and collect the money. They're putting their reputation at risk. This business model won't last long.

Anyone has experienced with Colonial Home Warranty and has advise on how to get them to fix my AC unit, please let me know.

I had the same issue with my AC and first Colonial sent local AC people to check the AC, and Colonial said, nothing is covered except compressor, and the AC guy diagnosed some other issue. Since only compressor was covered, I asked another guy to come and fix it. He said only the compressor was bad. Having two AC companies with different diagnosis, asked a 3rd guy to diagnose and he also said compressor was bad. Told Colonial and they sent a 4th guy who came and also diagnosed bad compressor ( so far I have paid over $250 in diagnosis). Then Colonial asked for maintenance records that I don't have. The house was built 7 years ago. I don't know if anyone does yearly maintenance for a working AC, but if I am wrong let me know. Anyhow, I had the 4th guy, replace compressor and AC works well now, so definitely it was a bad compressor (a covered part according to Colonial). I am in California and as far as I know, I cant even take them to small claims court. How can you resolve disputes with Colonial? If they are always the judge, they can deny paying making excuses. I have no idea how to resolve disputes with them. Does anyone know what recourse do I have?

I really wished I had read your review prior to signing up with Colonial. I had problems with my a/c unit, they requested service receipts which I submited and still my claim was denied. I've come to the conclusion that "Brian" is the Authorization Dept. and the more claims he rejects the bigger the bonus.
